Reclaiming the Public Realm

Text: Leonie Charlotte Wagner

Young Chilean Architects Revive Performative Concepts of the 1960s
For three decades, Chilean architecture circled around minimalism and discrete objects in a romanticized landscape. In her essay, Leonie Charlotte Wagner emphasizes new approaches of the young generation of architects. They are shifting the focus of the discourse towards the public realm and recalling the sociopolitical and ecological dimensions of their profession. The examined initiatives, projects and buildings seem to echo ideas from experimental architectural practices of the 1960s, translating them into a contemporary context. The essay is part of architheses newest issue.
